Located south of Hattiesburg, New Augusta is a small Mississippi town with about 350 residents. Moving here in the early 1980's, this Baltimore girl knew she had found a home. People were friendly, weather was warm (compared to the Maryland winters) and land was available.
Here I met and married Huey, who hails from Chickamauga, GA. After building a house, we started landscaping, and that's when daylilies entered our world! As any daylily aficionado knows, one daylily leads to ten and ten leads to hundreds.... We started with 8 cultivars along the driveway and and now thousands of plants currently find their home nestled amongst the azaleas, pines, water oaks, live oaks and magnolias at Daylily Manor.
Like this site, Daylily Manor is still "under construction". Since there is always one more daylily we just "have to have", beds are still being designed, built or remade even while the "occupants", some 2000 plus registered cultivars, are putting down roots and "raising families". We hope that you will come back from time to time to check on our progress, share in the joy of "doing daylilies" and maybe find something to add to your garden!
Daylily Manor has been issued a Mississippi Department of Agriculture, Bureau of Plant Industry, Certificate of Nursery Inspection.
Please e-mail us with any questions or suggestions for this site. We hope with the coming year we will be adding many more "kids" to our growing "family" and we can share more pictures with you soon.
