If you are not familiar with daylily terms and codes, below is a brief description on how to read the lists. Following the culivar (name of the daylily), the name of the hybridizer, and the year it was registered, is the cultivar information. The first size is the Height of the Scape (bloom stem), this is followed by the typical bloom season: E (Early bloom), M (Midseason bloom) L (Late blom) or a combination like EM (Early to Midseason bloom). If the cultivar is a "rebloomer" the code "Re" will follow. The second size is the size of the flower. Following is the indication for DOR (Dormant), SEV (Semi-Evergreen, EV (Evergreen). Next is the ploidity information: TET ( Tetraploid) or DIP (Diploid). Last is the color and form of the daylily.
For example: 26" M Re 6" SEV TET, ivory cream self, green throat
is a daylily with a 26 inch bloom scape, blooms mid season, it reblooms, has a 6 inch flower, is semi-evergreen, a tetraploid, with a flower that is ivory cream with a green throat. |

RUST Note: As you may know, there is a new daylily disease - Puccinia hemerocallidis - or "rust" - that has spread across this country and into Canada and Australia. Large nurseries to small gardens have been affected. Daylily Manor has been maintaining an active rust prevention spray program. If you need information on rust, there are many sites that discuss daylily rust on the web including the American Hemerocallis Society web site. In addition, we will be glad to answer any questions you have. All daylilies will also be with dipped in a fungicide prior to shipment.
If you wish to assist in the research to study this disease, please donate to the American Hemerocallis Society's Joe E. House Scientific Fund and designate "Rust Research". Further information on this Fund can be found on the AHS web site.
